Best Friend's Dog Training NYC specializes in on leash and off leash obedience including
"Come" on and off leash at a distance and around heavy distractions.
"Heel" on and off leash with distractions like other dogs and pedestrian traffic.
"Off" when your dog jumps up.
"Leave it" to get him to stop eating articles like socks, food, furniture and kid's toys.
"Place" getting your dog to settle in a spot till you call him.
"Sit/ Stay" off leash and around all sorts of distractions.
Both of our programs are lifetime and include unlimted group classes. Once
you have completed one of the following programs you will be invited to to any
lifetime class held by Best Friend's Dog Training! Group training is very important
in order to get your dogs' attention around distractions and to help you maintain
your training. Our classes are designed to challenge your dog once he's already
learned the basics
One - on- One, in Home Program
The One - on- One, in Home Program Involves meeting with
your trainer to learn how to train your dog. Private lessons are held once a
week, for aprox 45 minutes. Training lessons are tailored to meet the dog's
needs and the owners expectations and may be held at home, at the park, or any
number of environments? to achieve maximum results. The program typically takes
about 4 weeks to complete. Daily practice by the owner is necessary for effective
learning as well as follow up maintenance to insure good results in the future.
The in home training package includes all equipment, private lessons, unlimited
follow up group classes.
Board and Train Program
The Board and Train Program is designed for maximum generalizability
so that dogs trained by our staff will respond to their owners when they return
home. it is a two to three week program followed by private lessons in your
home and unlimited group classes. Here's how it works: your dog will come and
live in a trainer's home and receive daily training lessons. The dog will be
trained at home, outside in the street, near shopping centers, around other
dogs, squirrels, people, cats, cars... Between training sessions, your dog will
have playtime with other dogs, snacks, and naps. When your dog returns home
he will have a lesson with your trainer, followed by a second lesson about a
week later and a third lesson a week or two following that. The board and train
programs includes all training and boarding fees, private follow up lessons,
unlimited group classes, equipment.
Leash Only Training
Both the In Home and Board and Train programs are available with "Leash
Only" traditional training. Although leash based training is effective,
it takes far more work to get a similar, but less reliable result.
Some people only want this training, and because of the increased training time
needed from our trainers, the cost is exactly the same as the offleash programs.
Since most people need to see the difference, we suggest calling for a free
evaluation in your home so a trainer can show you the difference and answer
your questions in the comfort of your home.
Best Friend's Group Classes are for lifetime clients who have completed an In home Training or Board and Train Program. Families and spectators are welcome.

Puppy Class
A one time class in your home where we teach you what to expect in the next
few months. Puppies have different needs and expectations then older dogs. The
impressions we make on a pup will affect the pup for life. We spend the time
with you teaching what to do and what not to do. We cover topics such as housebreaking,
crate training, socialization, teaching basic commands, and how to effectively
communicate with the pup. Cost $45
